Your race.
Your life. Coaching built for both.
Personalized 1:1 coaching for Ironman and 70.3 athletes with busy lives. Strength, endurance, nutrition and mindset in one plan that bends when work, travel and family show up.
Long before the swim start, there’s work nobody sees:
A body that holds up through a long build and holds its form late in the run.
Swim, bike and run training built around the hours you really have.
Fuel your long days in training, so race-day fueling is something you’ve already done.
Calm in the swim, patient on the bike and steady when the run gets hard.
Not in the swim. Not by your bike split. By what you have left for the second half of the run. That’s where strength, fueling and pacing show up. We train for that moment from day one.
I’m Joe Beckerley, head coach at Fuel The Finish in Bend, Oregon. I’ve coached endurance athletes for more than 14 years, from the San Diego Triathlon Club to my own athlete gym, Performance Strength Lab.
My first triathlon was in 2010, on a $100 Craigslist bike, in basketball shorts. Three years later, I finished my first Ironman. I’ve now finished six.
I spent about 15 years in corporate management before I coached full time. I’m a husband and a dad of two. I know the early alarms, the work trips and the weeks that don’t go to plan.
That’s why I coach the whole athlete: strength, endurance, nutrition and mindset, built around your real life.
Real reviews from athletes I coach. Quotes are word for word; “…” marks where a long review was shortened.
“I am an aspiring age group triathlete juggling a demanding career, day to day life, and training. Coach Joe works with me weekly to ensure the assigned training plan reflects my availability without compromising on the outcome on race day. I’ve worked with Coach Joe for around a year and have seen my 70.3 time drop by almost an hour!”
“Under his guidance, I have qualified for the World Championships twice, as well as the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championships… He understands that life sometimes gets in the way of training and consistently approaches coaching with flexibility, empathy, and a positive mindset.”
“Coach Joe helped me prepare for several running and triathlon events including my first full Ironman, where I was thrilled to surpass my time goal! Most importantly, when life happens and the unexpected occurs, Coach Joe quickly adjusts your plan so you stay on track and can focus on what is most important.”
“I had not run in over 25 years so this was going to be a real challenge… I had no idea how to properly train and didn’t realize how much strength training would help my running, swimming and cycling. Joe helped get me in the best shape of my life, safely, and I completed my first triathlon in 5hr 14 minutes beating my goal by 16 minutes.”
“I cannot say enough about Coach Beckerley. He has done so much for me to help me achieve my triathlon goals of completing my first Ironman in WI to becoming a 3x Ironman. I couldn’t have done it without him.”
“Remote training works if you are working with Coach Joe. Joe has helped me increase my bike FTP 120 points, among other major improvements.”
Personalized guidance built around your fitness, your life and the race you’re chasing.
A plan tells you what was supposed to happen. A coach helps you decide what should happen now.
Strength, endurance, nutrition and mindset in one plan, with Coach Joe in your corner every week.

No. If you have one, we’ll use it. If not, we train by heart rate and effort, and you’ll learn to read your body as well as your numbers.
Yes. Coaching isn’t only for fast people. It’s for people who are committed to a goal. That’s the only requirement.
Yes. I coach first-timers and experienced athletes. Chris did his first triathlon at 58: a 70.3, 16 minutes under his goal.
Yes. My athletes train all over the country. Your plan, feedback and check-ins all happen online.
Weekly check-ins, plus direct messaging when something comes up. I read your workout notes and adjust your plan as we go.
Your plan changes. That’s the point of a coach. Missing one workout is rarely the problem. Trying to make it up usually is. We adjust the week so you stay on track.
A plan gives you workouts. It can’t see your work trip, your bad night of sleep or your sore knee. I can. Each week I look at how you actually responded and adjust what comes next.
Yes. We build your fueling plan in training and practice it on your long days, so race day is a repeat, not an experiment.
Yes. A strength program built for triathletes is part of your plan, not an add-on.
Tell me about your race, your schedule and your goals. I read every application myself. If it looks like a fit, we’ll set up a free call to talk it through.
